Request your Discord data, and what it contains.

Discord does not let you export a conversation: only an official data package, which holds your own messages, not other people’s.

Partial support. Since the export only holds your messages, Yapped Drop cannot make a group pack from it: it tells you before sending anything. For a pack, use WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram or LINE. DiscordChatExporter is not supported yet.

The Discord data package

In Discord, open User Settings.
Open the Data & Privacy tab and tap Request Data under “Request your data”.
On a computer, a window lets you choose the data to include, messages among them. On mobile you can only request everything.
Confirm with Request My Data.
Wait for Discord’s email to your account address, then download the ZIP archive.

According to Discord’s help, the request can take up to 30 days, your account needs a verified email address, and only one request can be pending.

WHAT THE EXPORT CONTAINS

Your messages, only yours

The messages folder holds the messages you sent, split by channel, as JSON or CSV.
Other participants’ messages are not there: a chat with friends looks like a monologue.
Yapped reads these files on your device and recognises them as sent messages, with times read as UTC.

What Yapped does with it

A group pack needs both sides of the conversation. Yapped Drop therefore refuses a Discord export, with an explanation, without sending anything. Making a pack from your Discord group would need a full export of the channel, which Yapped does not read yet.

HOW IT IS PROCESSED

How it is processed

On your device: Your file is read in your browser. Yapped counts the messages, works out everyone’s statistics and removes phone numbers, emails, addresses, IBANs and card numbers before anything is sent. Nothing leaves before you agree.
Only if you agree: When you tap your name, you agree: the text of the chat, without those details, goes to Yappy, an AI hosted in the European Union with zero retention. It keeps nothing. For ages 15 and up.
What Yapped keeps: Not your messages. If you buy a pack, your binder link (the generated pack, not your chat) lasts 30 days and you can delete it.
