EXPORT GUIDE
Export a LINE chat as a text file.
LINE saves a chat’s history in a .txt file. Yapped reads that file, one chat at a time.
By Pionnier Labs · Updated: 28 October 2026
LINE only saves the messages displayed in the chat, according to its official help. If the history looks short, scroll the chat upwards before exporting.
FROM YOUR PHONE
Export the history
Open the chat in LINE.
Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat (≡), then Settings. In older versions this menu was called “Other settings”.
Tap Export chat history and choose how to send the file.
Save the
.txtto Files, or send it to yourself, then select it in Yapped.
ON A COMPUTER
Windows or Mac
LINE’s help says: Chats icon, open the chat, ⋮ menu at the top, then the option to save the chat (Save chat).
GOOD TO KNOW
Export limits
- A text export cannot be restored into LINE: it is not a backup.
- Dates can be written day/month/year or month/day/year: if it is ambiguous, Yapped asks for the right order.
- Photos, stickers and files show up as media, without their content.
HOW IT IS PROCESSED
How it is processed
- On your device: Your file is read in your browser. Yapped counts the messages, works out everyone’s statistics and removes phone numbers, emails, addresses, IBANs and card numbers before anything is sent. Nothing leaves before you agree.
- Only if you agree: When you tap your name, you agree: the text of the chat, without those details, goes to Yappy, an AI hosted in the European Union with zero retention. It keeps nothing. For ages 15 and up.
- What Yapped keeps: Not your messages. If you buy a pack, your binder link (the generated pack, not your chat) lasts 30 days and you can delete it.
The details: how Yapped processes your conversation.
Drop your file on Yapped
Export ready? Open Yapped Drop, drop the file and tap your name: Yappy reads the chat and you open your card pack.
